But even after 14 years in Florida and 15 years in Southern California, I'll always try to be the kid who grew up in a small Midwest town just outside Chicago. The one thing about the Midwest is the genuine, authentic and sincere people that live there, and if I still have those qualities from growing up there, I certainly don't want to lose those. Life in the Midwest is about keeping things simple and straightforward and not overcomplicating things and that the first rule of problem-solving is that you take care of the people who have been impacted first and then everything else comes afterwards. When they were alive, my parents taught my sister and I that the most important thing in life is how you treat other people and that's what you learn growing up there.
